CHRISTMAS PARTY – FRIDAY, 17 DECEMBER 2010

The annual Christmas Party was held this year at the Club and I am very pleased to say that the weather was much kinder to us than it was last year. Members and guests enjoyed a lovely meal provided by Sam and her team and then danced the night away to music provided by Matthew Curtis.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH – SUNDAY, 19 DECEMBER 2010

For those who did not feel the need to dance the night away we also organised a Sunday Christmas Lunch at the Club. Again, Sam and her team came up trumps with a more traditional Christmas meal. I would like to thank Tony Hesketh-Field for officiating on the day and allowed me to have a very welcome day off.

CHRISTMAS DRAW – TUESDAY, 21 DECEMBER 2010

The Club Day for Tuesday, 21st was supposed to be Christmas Fancy Dress and the Social Committee put up a prize for the “Best Dressed Christmas Bowler”. Unfortunately, the rain decided it was going to put a dampener on our plans but a few stalwarts turned up to play bowls and some even brightened up the green with their Christmas get-up – especially Twinkle the Fairy (Captain Vee) who insisted on speaking in rhyme and I’m not sure what her plans were for the wand. The prizes for dressing up went to Geoff Milnes (The Christmas Cook) who received chocolates and Twinkle (Vee) and Betty Milnes each received a bottle of wine.

After Club Day members enjoyed a Tapas Lunch in the Clubhouse followed by the Christmas Draw. This year we sold 1240 squares which allowed us to purchase 110 prizes. Thanks must go to Margarete Green who donated a beautiful hamper complete with one of her home-made Christmas cakes and to Mel & Pat from the Bowls Shop who donated a bowls accessory kit.

A big thank you to all those who helped to make the day a great success – Margarete Green for undertaking most of the shopping and wrapping; Sam and her team for the excellent lunch; Bob & Mary Cockell and Dave Humble for their assistance on the day but most of all to all those who bought squares on the many sheets over the last couple of months. Without your generosity this event could not take place.

THE SOCIAL COMMITTEE WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT OVER THE LAST YEAR
AND WISH YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR

Social Director
