What a day, no one in their wildest dreams could have predicted this result, against arguably the strongest team in the competition.
On most nights I go to bed and read a book, last night I re read five scorecards.

Well done to everyone, and thank you to our supporters, and the Umpire and Markers. I must also thank Monte Mar for their hospitality and an excellent meal. Also my appreciation to our travelling reserves Viv Humble and Carol Davies

TEAM RESULTS

LADIES SINGLES
Christine Mawson 19 v Ann Holland 21
This was a hard fought game with the lead switching continuously, in the end Christine was just edged out, but she has had a great competition so well done to her.

Our photograph shows from left to right front row, Maggie Lawley, Carole Davies, Mary & Bob Cockell, Christine Mawson, Viv Humble & Greg Sperring. Back row, Trevor Neale, Steve Griffin, Tim Woodcock, Tony Lawley, Derek Mawson & Dudley Davies

MENS SINGLES
Greg Sperring 21 v Colin Linndgren 18,
Another see saw game, we all thought that Greg had it won, when holding three shots for the match, only for Colin to steal the end, but he came straight back to win the next and take the points.

PAIRS
Steve Griffin & Tim Woodcock 20 v Pam Lockett & Sabrina Marks 16
This one looked really tough for our guys, but our Dynamic Duo fought it out and a determined last few ends saw them home against this highly experienced pair.

TRIPLES
Maggie Lawley, Tony Lawley, Dudley Davies 20 v Kath Reid, June Jones, Noel Verity 13
Maggie decided to shuffle the pack, asking Dudley to play lead, this turned out to be a master stroke, they took the lead with a four on the first end and were never behind, their opposition finally conceding on the sixteenth end when the match was won.

FOURS
Trevor Neale, Bob Cockell, Derek Mawson, Mary Cockell 25 - Shirley Verity, Ray Pollock, Keith Jones, Russell Marks 10
This was probably the big surprise for us when their two top players were both put together, and it got more surprising when it did not work. With a great exhibition of lead bowling from Mary, some great skips play from Trevor, Derek and Bob supporting, we were never behind and the game was conceded on the seventeenth end.

What more is there to say, this has been a remarkable run for us, when you consider that as percentage of the membership we have had the smallest squad on the Costas we have done so well and I am proud to have been a part of it. You are a credit to your club

My thanks to you all.

Bob
