REPORTS

24th JANUARY 2016

BBC v SAN LUIS

They say that all good things must come to an end and for us it has, we have had a good run in the competition, but on the day we were generally outplayed.
San Luis threw their big guns at our home team and they were too good for us.

I won´t dwell on the statistics, as I am sure everyone did their best.

I think their plan was to send their best players to BBC and let there difficult rinks take care of our away team.

Unfortunately we had other ideas and came away with a very creditable away draw.

Clive accepted the lonely job of the Singles and did his best. meeting a dedicated Singles player.
Dudley and Carol fought hard as usual, losing by only 4 shots.
Geoff, Tony, Bob and Linda had a good day on a difficult rink and after the first three ends were never behind winning 21 to 17
Our trips team of Maggie, Mary and Tim, should be called the Zombies, for their ability to come back from the dead.
They were 3 shots behind going into the 16th end but then picked up two fours to win 21 to 17 very well done.

San Luis now play San Miguel in the final.

Thank you to all who took part, and to those who unfortunately did not get a game, It would have been very difficult to select two better sides.
My thanks to Alex and to Derek for marking and to those who came to support.

Regards

Bob

14th DECEMBER 2015

BBC 10 ( 78 ) V LA SIESTA 6 ( 67)

This was never going to be an easy fixture, with La Siesta struggling a bit in the leagues and having a point to prove.

Once again our home team put in a strong performance with good wins for Alex in the Singles and Lynda and Yvonne in the pairs.

Our Triples trio of Maggie, Jaqui and Rod had an in and out game, leading 15 to 9 after 13 ends, then the wheels came off a bit and they were pipped at the post by 1 shot, losing 15 to 16.

The Fours of Terry, Tony Mike and Christine fought out another close game, but just managed to keep their noses in front for a 15 to 13 win and the points.

For the away team it was as Wellington said “ A close run thing.“ Clive played a superb game to win the Singles to give us our first points
.
The Welsh Houdini act of Dudley and Carol did it again, they were behind up to the 11th end, when they drew level and never looked back, winning by 20 to 13 and gaining 2 vital points for the team.

Our triples of Trevor, Mary and Tim looked to have the game under control , but a fortuitous shot by the opposition skip on the 17th end, ditched the jack and gained a 6. Game over, 13 to 20 hard luck guys.

The Fours team of Jeff, Bob,Bert and Linda fought the whole way through, and were still in contention, being all square after 16 ends, but they lost an unlucky 5 on the 17th and went down 24 to 21.

Overall this was a good team performance, we now have to play San Luis in the semi-finals

Thank you everyone, and thanks to our Markers and Umpires, and Rebecca for her help and the sweets.

Merry Xmas and a successful New Year.

Bob

BBC 14 points V EMERALD ISLE 2 points

We seem to have been waiting for ever to play this match, but as the saying goes, everything comes to those who wait. well it certainly came to BBC. today.

What a result, it would be difficult to mention individuals when everyone performed so well.

We tried to balance the home and away sides in order to give us our best chance, and on the day it worked out well.

Both home and away games were hard fought but sheer determination and a lot of skill saw us through.

Alex Fisher led the home team to a resounding 8 points to 0 victory, whilst the away side were backing them up by winning brilliantly by 6 points to 2. at a difficult venue.

A point to mention, is that the away shots scored were level at 64 each
Overall we had a comprehensive victory, we now await the results from the other games.

Well done everybody

Bob
