MID-SUMMER BALL 2010
This year the Mid-Summer Ball was held at the Javea Golf Club on Monday, 21 June. The Golf Club is considered by many of our members to be the ideal place to have this event because of its ambience and the size of its outside terrace. Normally at this time of year the weather is very settled and it is entirely safe to organise an outside event. On Monday evening, however, there was quite a stiff breeze blowing across the terrace and by the time the meal had been served and the entertainment got underway most of the assembled party had retreated indoors. Only the hardy, or fool-hardy, stayed outside and generated their own warmth by dancing.
The staff at the Golf Club looked after us very well serving an excellent meal and providing prompt service. Our entertainer for the evening was Matthew Curtis who pulled out all the stops to keep us on the dance floor. Thanks to the Golf Club staff and Matthew because without them the evening would not have been such a success.
Thanks also to the other members of the Social Committee, Jan, Linda and Margarete, for their help on the run-up to and during the evening.
