Founders Day 2009

Members of the Benitachell Bowls Club celebrated 21 years of bowling at the club on Thursday evening 8th October following their 2 day Founders Day Triples competition.

The competition which was sponsored by Vicens Ash Real Estate Agents once again this year, attracted players form other clubs who played with members of the BBC with the final results going by way of third place to Peter Griffiths, Viv Erridge & Richard Watson (Jávea). In second place was George Robinson, Mollie Mogg and Ian Brown (El Cid) with the winners Maggie Lawley, Sheila Manser and Mike Clark.

The presentations got underway with Mike Parry (President) welcoming our Founder members present, and then on behalf of the BBC members and the Board of Directors presented them with Honorary Life Memberships, to David Claridge who was a member of the first Steering Committee to form the

BBC back in October 1987, and his wife Norah. Also presented with Honorary Life Membership were Bob (twice Club Captain) and Mollie Mogg, together with Pauline Greenwood, these three are still bowling at the club today.

The evening celebrations were rounded off with a buffet and live entertainment.
