First Aid Class Report

]For the past few years the Benitachell Bowls Club has been at the forefront in recognising the need to have trained first aiders on hand to help with any medical emergency happening on the premises.

As well as the Board of Directors organising regular first aid training of key personnel for medical emergencies, the Club members themselves some two years ago were instrumental in obtaining vitally important medical equipment to help sustain life should the need arise. Who can forget the fantastic response to Peter Emmett’s appeal to raise money for the purchase of a heart defibrillator, oxygen equipment and special stretcher when the incredible sum of almost 3000 euros was raised in just a few days?

Following on from this positive attitude to first aid training, BBC teamed up with our good friends from Javea Green BC and held a joint First Responder/CPR training session on Tuesday 4 February. Some 23 volunteers undertook a full days training in the most up to date methods in coping with likely medical emergencies which included the correct use of resuscitation equipment and other general first aid care.

At the successful conclusion of the training each individual was presented with a certificate of competency.

Special praise for the success of the day must go to Val Rolland & Ann Scoble the two excellent trainers from Paul Cunningham Nurses SL and of course to Peter Emmett who organised this important event.

A note of all the trained personnel has been published on the Club notice Board.
