On Wednesday 11th, forty-eight intrepid BBC members braved the threatening clouds and the novel format to compete in the (first) BBC SITCOM (it stands for Seeded Individual Triples Competition if you wanted to know). Everyone played three eight-end games each with different teams, each team consisting of one player from each of three seeding pools. Despite a couple a couple of unscheduled stops for rain and one scheduled stop for a fantastic buffet lunch the day finished more or less on time, the overall winner being Pat Johnson, with Larry Sherrington as runner-up.
The competition also incorporated the Loftus trophy, in memory of Terry Loftus, for newer bowlers - this was won by Jim Strachan with Kenn Denton a very close second.
A very enjoyable day all round and many requests to do the same next year.
