BBC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015-16
1 All games will be played in accordance with “The Laws of the Sport of Bowls”, Crystal Mark Third Edition unless varied below.
2 Members who enter for Club competitions must be available to play in the finals, and pay membership fees up to that date whether or not they are knocked out.
3 The Drawn 2 Wood Pairs will be played in sets in accordance with Laws 56.1, 56.2, 56.3,56.4 and 56.5.
4 All singles games will be decided on the first to reach 21 shots with the exception of the President’s singles which will be 25 shots.
5 All other games will be played over 18 ends with an extra end being played in the event of a tie.
6 Score cards, at the end of each game, should be left in the box provided on the wall of the “old hut”, ensuring that they are signed by both Skips, or opponents in singles.
7 The upper name, on the draw sheet, is the challenger and as such is responsible for arranging the game and is to give at least three realistic dates for the opponents to choose from. These three dates must be given within 7 days from the completion date of the previous round
8 In the case of singles games the challenger is also to provide a marker. A qualified marker is recommended. The Controlling Body will appoint the Markers for the Quarter Finals onwards.
9 Rinks can be pre-booked in the diary kept in the cabin bearing in mind the priorities shown in the book.
10 When drawing for rinks, all rinks should be included in the draw unless already legitimately occupied.
11 All games must be completed on or before the “Play by Date” shown on the draw sheets, with the exception of the Mixed Fours and Mixed Triples which will be played on or before fixed dates. Extensions to these dates will only be granted, with certain restrictions, by the Controlling Body, in the event of serious illness or similar.
12 Any substitution, during a game, must be approved by the controlling body as must any replacement. Once a replacement has been made the team should remain in that format for the remainder of the competition i.e.” back replacing” is not allowed. Please read the Guidelines Sheet regarding replacements.
13 The Controlling Body will consist of, Club Captain, Vice Captain, Match Secretary, Competition Secretary and the Duty Umpire any two of whom will constitute a quorum.
14 As always, on the green, an Umpires decision is final and in any matter outside the remit of the umpire the Controlling Body will have the final decision.
15 In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen events the Controlling Body reserve the right to alter or amend any of the above if it is essential to the successful completion of the competition.
16 In the absence of an Umpire only qualified or experienced Markers should be use for all singles games.
17 PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES BELOW

Club Championships 2015/16
Member’s Guidance Note
The following notes have been prepared to provide some additional information and clarification with regards to specific aspects of the Club Championships and should be read in conjunction with the Competition Rules.
When a replacement player is required during the competition i.e. after the first game has been played, the replacement should be ‘blind drawn’ from a pool of eligible players who have not previously participated in the same discipline, This process must be carried out in conjunction with the Controlling Body (Cross Ref. Rule 12)
Extensions to “play by” and/or “play on” dates is at the sole discretion of the Controlling Body and will normally only be granted in exceptional and extenuating circumstances, such as serious illness and/or associated medical conditions. Extension requests should not be submitted to facilitate extended holiday periods. Any player/team unable to play their game before the respective “play by” and/or “play on” date must concede the game to their opponent. (Cross Ref. Rule 11)
It is the responsibility of the ‘challenger’, in all singles disciplines, to arrange an appropriate ‘Marker’. Spouses may undertake the role of Marker with the agreement of the opponent.
When making arrangements to play either a Quarterfinal or Semi-final game, the ‘challenger’ must liaise with the Club’s CBUMA representative (Christine Mawson) in order that a qualified Marker may be made available for the agreed date. The Controlling Body will be responsible for arranging Markers for the Finals of all singles matches in the Club Championships. (Cross Ref. Rule 8)
Playing Twice on the Same Day
Practice or “roll-ups” on the green, including participation in Club Day, is not permitted on the day of any Club Championship or Club Competition match, prior to that match.
However, play in other matches, such as a recognised league or competition is permitted in line with Bowls Spain Domestic Regulations 2015, as restated below:
3.4 Players can be allowed to play on the same rink on the same day providing they are playing in a separate competition (N.B. must be an officially sanctioned separate competition, club match or higher)."
Failure to Agree a Play Date
The Challenger(s) should contact their opponent(s) within 7 days of the end of the preceding round, in order to make arrangements to play the fixture.
Having provided the opposition with three proposed dates, within a realistic time scale, and where it has not been possible to agree a mutually suitable date for a Club Championship game, the ‘challenger’ should refer the issue to the Controlling Body for resolution. In such circumstances the Controlling Body may set the date for the game to be played. Failure to play the game on the allotted date will result in the defaulting team(s) being disqualified. (Cross Ref. Rule 7)
CBBA Champion of Champions
The winners of the Ladies and Men’s singles & pairs, Mixed Fours, Mixed Triples and 4 Wood Mixed Pairs are eligible to play in the CBBA “Champion of Champions” to be held during April 2015. Once entered, players representing their respective Clubs, are required to play in every round up to and including the Final. Failure to do so is likely to result in punitive action being taken against the offending player(s) and possibly their Club(s). Further details, including Champion of Champion competition Rules, will be provided at the appropriate time.
