2016 TOURING TEAMS

BBC v CHATHAM CIVIL SERVICE BOWLS CLUB TOURING TEAM

On 15th March, Tuesday afternoon, BBC bowlers entertained the Chatham Civil Service Bowls Club Turing Team.

Slight concern as they did not arrive at the expected time but a phone call from one of the bowlers put our minds at rest as the driver had gone to Javea Green.

Dave Roberts did a Pied Piper job and the visitors were greeted and served their soup and sandwiches.

Not a great deal of sunshine and later on in the afternoon it became cold but everyone had a great time especially BBC as the following will show.

David Roberts, Richard Chamberlain, Terry Quinton and Jenny Hawker 20 – 15
Dudley Davies, Rob Hawker, Carol Davies and Jinty Chamberlain 39 – 14
Carole Nicholas, Brian Fenton, Ernie Pope and Sally Rush 27 – 17
Clive Langan, Shiela Lucas, Trevor Rush and Joyce Pope 33 – 10
BBC 119 - Visitors 56

The visitors bowled well considering outdoor carpets are not their forte, Derreck Sherress, Captain for the day had been a Middleton Cup Player so no slouch.

Drinks and speeches followed the game with the raffle prizes all bar one going to the opposition, Jinty being the only winner for the BBC.

A really great day which Chatham Bowls Club would like to repeat, the only request being for us to arrange for more sun.

Vice Captain Jacquie Roberts
