2015 BBC OPEN

2015 BBC OPEN

20th - 27th APRIL

BBC OPEN 2015

It took a lot of planning and preparation but with the help of good weather the Open came to a close on Sunday 26th April on time, after 7 days of full length games. This was the first time an Open had been played with 18 end games and a plate competition for first round losers and it was a great success. There were some wonderful bowling contests especially in the quarter and semi- finals.

The excitement and quality of some games together with human drama made the effort worthwhile and the crowds lapped it up.
66 bowlers from BBC, Javea, El Cid and UK took part, many playing 2 full games in a day: so well done all of them. It seems to me that everyone is a winner, but here are the ones that won the trophies and prizes:-

Ladies Singles was won by Jackie Roberts.

Men’s Singles by Tony Lawley.

Jackie Roberts also won the mixed pairs along with hubby David.

The mixed fours was won by Sheri & Jim Fletcher, John North and Vee Wood.

BBC introduced a plate competition for the 4s and pairs for the first time.

These were won by Harry Winfield, Viv Erridge, Maurice Flynn and Carole Nicholas in the 4s and John & Pat Pittaway in the pairs.

We owe a debt of thanks to our sponsors - Scottsdale, Poveda and Almar without whom this event would not take place.
